Have
today removed galleries and photos of Bolivia from 2004 to 2008.
Therefore missing more photos on Bolivian Butterflies Checklist. It is
useful to visit the Butterflies
of America if you want to see these
species from Bolivia. These
earlier galleries from Bolivia are out
of date, and from a time when my experience with
digital photography and image editing was
limited. With hopes of a good butterflies season Lars

Preface
I have been in Bolivia six
times now since January
2005 and
photographing butterflies in Yungas, the
Andes east side. Several expedition have
been with
Peter Møllmann, other people are Ib
Kreutzer,
Jan Flindt Christensen, Annelie
B. Nielsen and Else
M. Sveigaard on an expedition to
Bolivia.
The list has been started
because I had track of all my photos of
butterflies from Bolivia, I did not know
how many different species I've
photographed? And it has irritated me a
lot. Now after three months I begin to
get an overview of how many species I
have photographed, and it has been an
exciting job to do.

Lista de EspeciesI never could
make that list!
Must especially thank Steffen
Reichle that they will show their
latest list of Lycanidae from Bolivia.
For Kim
Garwood; Neotropical Butterflies and Richard
Lindstrom, I thank for their
identification of Eudaminae species in Skippers,
Hesperidae family.

The list is not
finished yet, you presume after a study of Ithomiini genus which now
stands a 138 species in Bolivia (Beccaloni & Gaston, 1994) they have after
examination of Ithomiinispecies in an area that
perhaps is approx; 2700 to 2900 species in
Bolivia. Families are expected additions in Riodinidae and Lycaenidae. Work is still on list, there is
the large group; Hesperidae to get up and
running!

List of butterflies of the Amazon River basin
and the Andes.
This is a list of
butterflies of the Amazon River basin and
the Andes.
The Amazon River basin may be the most
speciose region for butterflies.
Nine countries have territory in the
Amazon River basin or immediately adjoin
this region: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru,
Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana,
Suriname, and French Guiana.
The Andes extend from north to south
through seven South American countries:
Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru,
Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina.
The fauna of the Andes is also diverse.
Both regions have many endemic species.
South America as a whole constitutes the
Neotropical realm.
Habitats in these two regions are very
various and include Amazon rainforest,
Atlantic forest, Llanos grasslands, Puna
grassland and Valdivian temperate
forests. Peru east of the Andes is
regarded as the most important
biodiversity hotspot in the world.
The two regions (Amazon and Andes) are
South America proper excluding the pampas
plains of Uruguay and Paraguay which have
a distinct butterfly fauna.
Historic about the undescribed Lycaenidae species from Bolivia.
d. 6 and 19 february 2007; first
unknown Lycaenidae species
photographed in Caranavi, Bolivia by Lars
Andersen.
d. 20 February 2010; first
show in Bolivian Butterfly Checklist on Lycaenidaefamily .
d. 27 march 2011; Nicolaea
bagrada?
besidia? (could be new sp.) ID
from Jorge Bizarro.
d. 11 october 2013; This butterfly is
probably an undescribed species related to Nicolaea
demilineata from Paraguay. Atronox on Neotropical Butterfly Forum.
d. 8 january 2014; Mail from Kim
Garwood; Those are very nice shots of the
mystery Nicolaea. There are quite few
undescribed species in this genus, looking on Butterflies
of America. I don't think anybody knows
which one yours might be at this point. Thanks, K
d. 8 january 2014; I even think this unknown
species is closest family with Calycopis centoripa as the red band on the
rear wing bottom has a little different modes
around discal-spot. Lars Andersen. See more about the
undescribed Lycaenidae species on Naturephotos.dk
d.
10 january 2014; I sent it over to Gerardo
Lamas in Peru to hear whether he knows
it. Sincerely, Tom N. Kristensen.
d.
11 january 2014; Dear Tom, There are several hairstreak
species which have underside wing patterns
similar to those shown on Andersen''s pictures, and I''m
not even sure if both images represent the same
species. I''d think they belong to Nicolaea, close to Nicolaea fabulla, but I suggest you ask Bob
Robbins.
Best regards, Gerardo
d.
16 january 2016; After nearly nine years ago, when
I photographed this unknowns Ministreak species in Caranavi,
Yungas, Bolivia, where I perhaps thought it must
be an undescribed species? I found it on the
website "Learn about Butterflies
and Moths".
So finally I got the name on this butterflies. It
is: Cleon
Ministreak, Ministrymon
cleon
(Fabricius, 1775).
